The School of Sumba Hospitality Foundation

Being able to stay in the bamboo pavilions during our avidOutreach Program was a truly incredible experience for us. Visitors and volunteers are welcome to stay at The Sumba Hospitality School, the on-campus hotel school run by The Sumba Hospitality Foundation (SHF). In addition to staying in a hotel, you can get to know the students better and support them as they work to develop the island’s tourism industry, which will ultimately benefit the community.

SHF has made educating the underprivileged youths of Sumba a top priority since 2016. They offer vocational training to high school graduates from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds between the age of 17 to 23 years old. The school is not only focused on practical hospitality training; they also prioritize on the English education, sustainability, permaculture farming, and personal growth.

Sumba Hospitality Foundation

Sumba, a small island in eastern Indonesia, is one of the poorest regions of the country. Plenty of families live in adversities and the opportunities to attain a better life are rather narrow.
Sumba Hospitality Foundation is an organization that aims to provide young Sumbanese the opportunity of vocational education in hopes to equip them with the right skills and increase their employment opportunities. They believe that all young people deserve the chance to grow and have the option of a better life.

Avidian’s Skyworlds Company Retreat

We’ve been working hard, and it was time to celebrate. The Avidian recently took a company retreat to Genting Highland, where we had a blast with our colleagues not only as a team, but as friends and family.
This retreat was an homage to all the hard work we’ve put in this year; in just the first half of 2022, we were able to achieve as much as we did the entire year of 2021!

What we need to understand is that each generation is different and they are unique in their own ways – the way they communicate, learn, and even their preferences in how their contributions are recognized differ from one another.
